Services:

The purpose of this page is to provide a brief summary of the standard binding
options.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Bookbinding / Rebinding:  This is a simple binding / rebinding.  We repair your
book as needed and put an entirely new cover on it, as well as new end sheets.
See Sample 1.
See Sample 2.

Bible Rebinding:  Similar in nature to standard book rebinding, Bible rebinding
usually requires a little more work.  We offer both hard cover and soft cover
binding on Bibles.

Restoration:  In this process, we keep every aspect of your book, including the
covers and end sheets intact.  We repair the book itself, and restore the old
cover, bringing it back to life.

Family Bible Restoration:  Restoring a Family Bible is a time consuming and
painstakingly tedious job.  However, it is also a very rewarding thing to see your
treasured family Bible brought back to life!
See Before & After Photos.

Half-Binding:  This is a type of rebinding in which the new cover has a spine of
leather and the front and back boards are covered in cloth or paper.

Three-Quarter-Binding:  Similar to a Half-Binding, a Three-Quarter-Binding also
includes leather corners on the cover of the book.
See Example.

Add On Services:

Front Stamping:
Most orders automatically include a gold stamping of the title
and author on the spine of the book.  We can add a gold stamping to the front of
the book as well, if you desire.

Hubs:  Also known as raised bands, hubs added to the spine of your book help
lend it a truly conservative feel.

Labels:  Sometimes gold stamping on the cover just doesn't give you the feel you
want.  In these cases, we can mount a gold stamped label of a contrasting color
on the spine or front of your book.

Decorative End Sheets:  Our normal binding process includes plain, off-white
end sheets.  We can replace these end sheets with decorative Lexitone® end
sheets.

Patterned End Sheets:  Slightly more expensive than Lexitone® end sheets,
Patterned end sheets add a subtle feel to your book.

Marbled End Sheets:  The ultimate in end sheets, marbled end papers give your
book an antiquarian feel and look.

Additional Services:

Optional Leathers:
Our standard leathers are pig skin and calf hide, with calf
being the better quality.  We do offer other leathers, however.  Sheep skin is one
such option.  It has a very smooth finish, but also bruises easily.  Goat skin is the
most expensive option.  This is because we hand skive our goat skin.

De-acidification:  Some books, especially those dating from the late 19th to mid
20th century, have very high acid content in their pages.  As such, they begin to
yellow and become very brittle to the touch.  In some cases, even handling a
page can cause it to crumble.  We can usually work around this, but some
customers desire to have the pages restored to a condition in which they may be
safely handled.  To do this requires a special chemical wash, in which the pages
are treated and de-acidified.  De-acidification, however, is not inexpensive.
